I’ve just released 5.0.0.CR7. Hopefully we won’t see any more release candidates before 5.0.0.Final, so give this a good, hearty test and let us know what you think.

Infinispan 5.0.0 codenamed Pagoa has yet another release candidate out for you to play with.  CR6 was released earlier today, please switch any tests you have on the 5.0 series to this latest release candidate and provide as much feedback as possible, as we get ever closer to 5.0.0.Final.

In addition to Pete’s new grouping API, we also have some changes to the way class loading works, as well as the closure of a host of bugs reported against previous release candidates.

Please provide feedback using the forums, grab the release in the usual place, and report issues on JIRA.

We’re in a period of frequent release candidates now, getting Infinispan 5.0 ever closer to a final release.  Thanks to everyone who provided excellent feedback on last week’s CR2.

This week’s release candidate - CR3 - fixes a number of reported bugs including ISPN-1049, ISPN-965 and ISPN-977 and others (full ChangeLog in JIRA).  Better documentation on the new fluent configuration, a wiki page on advanced Flag usage thanks to Galder, as well as better log messages to help you size tables in an RDBMS when using the JDBC CacheStore thanks to Sanne also made it in this timeframe.

And finally, a few new things - new notifications to inform you of when rehashes start and end, and a new, experimental grouping API to give you control over where entries are stored in a distributed cluster, enabling you to specify which entries get colocated together.  Pete Muir - of CDI and Seam fame - contributed this patch, we’d love your feedback on it.

I intended to post this last week; but thanks to Google’s recent outage with Blogger.com (and the fact that I was traversing the Crib Goch ridge in a hailstorm over the weekend), I’ve not been able to post this till today.

I’ve released 5.0.0.CR2, the latest in a series of release candidates on the steady march to a final release of the 5.0 series.

Lots of things fixed here, including some crucial bugs reported against CR1.  For a full list of changes, see JIRA.

In addition to bug fixes, we have a new module - Spring integration, contributed by Olaf Bergner - which allows you to use Infinispan as a backend to Spring 3.1’s Cache API instead of the ConcurrentMap or EHCache implementations shipped with Spring.  You’d just need to include infinispan-spring.jar and configure Spring to use one of the Infinispan providers, as detailed here.  Thanks Olaf!

As per usual, please do take this out for a spin, give it a solid bashing and let us know what you think.  :-)

I’ve just cut 4.2.1.CR4 - hopefully the last before I can cut 4.2.1.FINAL soon.  Feedback on this is very important.  :-)

A bunch of things have been fixed - the changelog is here - and you know where downloads, forums, etc are!

Yes, the much-awaited CR2 of Infinispan 4.2.1, codenamed "Ursus", is finally out.  We’ve had excellent feedback on 4.2.0 and earlier betas and CRs on 4.2.1, which has led to a large number of bugs fixed and performance improvements implemented.  As always, this is much appreciated, helps make Infinispan a stronger platform for the community, and please do keep this up.  We’d love to hear what you have to say about CR2.

I’ve just released Infinispan 4.2.1.CR1.  After some excellent feedback from the Infinispan community on 4.2.0.FINAL, we’ve fixed 18 bugs including making hash distribution better, squashing a memory leak, a potential stale lock scenario and making remote lookups faster.  Thanks for all the extensive feedback, and please do keep this coming.  I hope to cut 4.2.1.FINAL very soon so please try this release candidate out and report back.

As per usual, grab the download, read the Javadocs, and report any issues via the user forums.

Yep, I’ve just cut Infinispan 4.2.0.CR4.  This is the last release candidate before a final release, so here is your chance to have your say.  :-)  A few stability issues around rehashing and distributed locking/transactions have been resolved, so please do try this out.

Another day another release.  :-)  I’ve just cut 4.2.0.CR3.  This release contains a number of bug fixes and stability improvements, including ISPN-777 and a whole bunch of memcached server fixes thanks to Galder.  In addition, Tristan’s CassandraCacheStore now also supports Key2StringMappers just like the JdbcCacheStores, as per ISPN-809.
